Generate Shopping Lists from Planned Meals
Shopping lists help turn meal plans into groceries.
Shopping Lists in Wen Dinner
In Wen Dinner, shopping lists are managed alongside food you have on hand. A shopping list holds items you need to buy, while a saved food location represents food you already have.
Use shopping lists for:
- Weekly grocery trips
- A specific dinner party
- Shared household shopping
- Ingredients needed for planned meals
Generate a Shopping List from a Meal
When a signed-in meal has recipes attached, Wen Dinner can help create shopping items from the meal's ingredients.
You can use this to plan all ingredients for a meal, or focus on what appears to be missing from the selected inventory.
Always review generated shopping items. Recipes and food you have on hand may use different wording, package sizes, or ingredient assumptions.
Check Off Groceries
As you shop, check items off the shopping list. Checked items can be put away into a stock inventory.
When putting items away, choose the destination inventory, location, expiration date, and opened state when relevant.
Mark Recipes Cooked
For planned meals, Wen Dinner can preview inventory changes before marking a recipe cooked. Review the preview before confirming.
If Wen Dinner is uncertain about an inventory change, it may create a reconciliation task instead of making an unsafe assumption.
Shared Shopping
Shopping lists and inventories can be shared. This is useful when more than one person shops or puts groceries away.
