Share Calendars, Recipes, and Shopping Lists
Wen Dinner supports sharing calendars, recipe collections, shopping lists, and food you track as on hand with other people.
What Can Be Shared
Signed-in users can share:
- Meal planning calendars
- Saved recipe collections
- Food you track as on hand
- Shopping lists
Sharing is useful for households, dinner parties, trips, and shared kitchens.
Invite Links
Owners can create invite links for supported resources. Send invite links only to people you intend to grant access.
Someone may need to sign in before accepting an invite. After accepting, the shared resource should appear in their normal Wen Dinner pages.
Roles and Permissions
Permissions depend on the kind of resource, but common roles include:
- Viewer: can see the shared resource
- Editor: can make changes to the shared resource
- Owner or manager: can manage sharing and revoke access
Choose the lowest permission level that fits what the recipient needs to do.
Private Recipes and Shared Resources
Private recipes can become visible to invited users when they are included in a shared calendar or private recipe collection.
Before sharing, review:
- Recipes planned on the calendar
- Recipes included in the recipe collection
- Notes or meal details
- Inventory and shopping list item names, quantities, and locations
Do not share an invite link if the resource contains information the recipient should not see.
Revoking Access
Owners and managers can remove shared access. Removing access prevents future access through that share, but it may not undo information someone already saw while they had access.
Sharing Safely
Use sharing intentionally:
- Share with specific people, not public channels, unless that is intended.
- Prefer viewer access when someone only needs to read the plan.
- Use editor access only when someone should be able to change the plan or list.
- Review private recipes before sharing calendars or recipe collections.
