Public and Private Recipes in Wen Dinner
Recipe visibility controls who can see a recipe.
Public Recipes
Public recipes may be visible to other Wen Dinner users and visitors. Recipes added from URLs are public.
Use public visibility for recipes you are comfortable sharing more broadly.
Private Recipes
Signed-in users can create private recipes from text or uploaded files. Private recipes are intended for your account and authorized shared contexts.
Use private visibility for:
- Family recipes
- Personal notes
- Recipes copied from private documents
- Drafts you do not want broadly visible
Private Cooking Notes
Cooking notes are private to the signed-in user who writes them, even when the recipe itself is public or shared. Notes are for remembering what happened when you cooked a recipe, including a required rating and optional note text.
Wen Dinner may use rated private notes to generate condensed recipe feedback summaries. Public summaries do not show the raw note text or identify who wrote a note.
Sharing Private Recipes
Private recipes can be visible to other people when they are included in a shared private recipe collection or planned on a shared calendar.
This lets you cook and plan collaboratively without making the recipe public, but recipients may still see the recipe within that shared context.
Review shared calendars and recipe collections before inviting people.
My Recipes and Visibility
Public recipe collections cannot include private recipes. If a collection contains private recipes, keep it private and invite specific people instead.
Changing Visibility
If you are allowed to manage a recipe, Wen Dinner may let you change it between public and private where supported.
Changing visibility affects who may be able to find or view the recipe. Only make a recipe public if you have the right to share it and are comfortable with others seeing it.
Ask Wen for Help
Wen can explain visibility rules and help you find the right workflow. Wen should not change recipe visibility unless you clearly ask it to change a specific recipe to a specific visibility.
